Weak global cues pulls SENSEX down
The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex today lost 67 points as investors booked profits amid a weak global trend.
The Sensex, which scaled a fresh 30-month high yesterday, rolled back to close lower by 67.51 points at 18,219.99.
In the 30-BSE index components, 19 stocks closed with losses and 11 scrips finished higher.
The broad-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty also fell by 25.45 points to 5,460.70.
The auto sector index rose by 0.10 per cent to 8,639.53 on the back of record vehicle sales in June, in addition to Tata Motors' attractive quarter earnings.

RIL, HUL, Unitech drags Indian Markets | BSE | NSE closes down
Major Indian Stock markets (BSE's SENSEX, NSE's NIFTY) closed in red today as Reliance Industries, Uniliver, IDFC, Unitech dragged the markets down today.
The details about today's trading day is as follows:
Nifty ended at 5394.35, down 36.25 points or 0.67 per cent. The broader index hit a low of 5386.25 and high of 5447.85 .
Bombay Stock Exchange’s Sensex closed at 17952.83, down 124.78 points or 0.69 per cent. The index touched a low of 17925.40 and high of 18137.14.
BSE Midcap Index was down 0.23 per cent and BSE Smallcap Index moved 0.17 per cent lower.
Amongst the sectoral indices, BSE Oil&gas Index slipped 1.97 per cent, BSE Realty Index declined 1.11 per cent and BSE Capital Goods Index edged 1.03 per cent lower. (read more...)

Pharma, Auto, bank stocks drag SENSEX down -20/7
Indian stock markets witnessed a lackluster day today as there was not much at the Dalal Street.
At the end of the day, SENSEX closed down by little over 50 pts and Nifty too closed down. Major decline were in Pharma stocks, Auto stocks and banking stocks.
The details about today's trading are as follows:
Bombay Stock Exchange’s Sensex closed at 17856.75, down 71.67 points. The index touched intraday high of 18040.17 and low of 17848.07.
National Stock Exchange’s Nifty ended at day’s low of 5353.65, down 32.80 points. The index touched a high of 5416.45 in today’s trade.

Indian markets down on profit booking - 14/7
All the major stock markets of India closed in red today as investors booked profits as the SENSEX crossed the 18000 mark yesterday, IT index however remained in red as it was yesterday because of poor show by Infosys(read full).
All sectoral indices were down with M&M, Ranbaxy, Idea, Suzlon leading the list of top loosers of the day. NSE's Nifty ended at 5378, down 22.65 points or 0.42 per cent.
BSE's 30 share benchmark Sensex closed at 17938.16, down 47.74 points or 0.27 per cent. BSE Midcap Index was down 0.46 per cent and BSE Smallcap Index moved 0.26 per cent lower.
BSE Capital Goods Index was up 1.13 per cent and BSE Bankex advanced 0.28 per cent. BSE IT Index was down 1.35 per cent. thus making the market breadth negative with 1779 declines v/s 1370 advances.

Banks | Realty helps in SENSEX's rebound closes in green
After trading in red over Infosys results. Indian Stock Indices BSE's SENSEX and NSE's NIFTY finally closed in green thanks to banking stocks and Realty stocks.
IT Index however closed down by over 2 percent.
Bombay Stock Exchange’s Sensex ended at 17987.46, up 50.26 points or 0.28 per cent. The index touched a high of 17998.04 and low of 17855.85.
National Stock Exchange’s Nifty closed at 5402, up 19 points or 0.35 per cent. The broader index hit a high of 5406.20 and low of 5357.85. BSE Realty Index surged 4.04 per cent and BSE Metals Index moved 1.44 per cent higher
BSE Midcap Index was up 0.75 per cent and BSE Smallcap Index moved 0.74 per cent higher.

SENSEX | NIFTY closes up - over 1 percent
(posted under - SENSEX rates, NIFTY rates) - Major Indian stock indices closed in green today following the US and European markets.
National Stock Exchange’s Nifty closed at 5296.85, up 55.75 points or 1.06 per cent. The index touched a high of 5320.50 and low of 5242.
Bombay Stock Exchange’s Sensex ended at 17651.73, up 180.70 points or 1.03 per cent. The index hit intraday high of 17728.37 and low of 17536.48. BSE Midcap Index was up 0.88 per cent and BSE Smallcap Index moved higher by 0.64 per cent. BSE Realty Index moved 1.61 per cent higher, BSE IT Index advanced 1.46 per cent and BSE Metal Index gained 1.36 per cent.

Nice day for Indian Stock markets - closes in green
(posted under - BSE closing, NSE closing) - Major Indian Stock indices ie BSe's SENSEX, NSE's NIFTY closed smiling today as both of the indices were up at closing by more then one percent. Indices got a boost from Banking stocks and also major IT stocks were up with TCS leading, Mahindra and Mahindra, HDFC bank were other major stocks in positive territory today.
The upward streak continued throughout the day from opening till the closing bell. Bombay Stock Exchange’s Sensex closed at 17595.05, up 153.61 points. The 30 share benchmark index touched intraday high of 17643.14 and low of 17395.58. All the sectoral indices were also in green through out the day, BSE Midcap Index was up 0.70 per cent and Smallcap Index moved 0.57 per cent higher. BSE Metal Index was up 1.77 per cent, BSE IT Index advanced 1.62 per cent and BSE Bankex moved 1.62 per cent higher.
National Stocks exchange's Nifty also followed and closed in green closing at 5282.80, up 46.90 points The index touched a high of 5297.45 and low of 5231.50 in today’s trade.

BSE SENSEX | NIFTY nosedives at closing 29/6
(posted under - BSE rates, SENSEX live) - Major Indian stock indices remained in red today because of global cues. All the major indices across the globe remained in red throughout. BSE's SENSEX closed down by over 240 points today.
The worst hit were stocks from metals, realty and banks whereas FMCG and capital goods ended with minimal losses. The 30 share Bombay Stock Exchange’s Sensex closed at 17534.09, down by 240.17 points. The index touched low of 17465.73 and high of 17777.95 during intraday trading. Whereas Nifty ended at 5256.15, down 77.35 points. The index touched a high of 5334.15 and low of 5235.80 in today’s trade.
BSE Midcap Index was down 0.65 per cent and BSE Smallcap Index moved 0.62 per cent lower. BSE Metal Index was down 2.74 per cent, BSE Realty Index declined 1.55 per cent and BSE Bankex moved 1.47 per cent lower. Market breadth was negative on the BSE with 1129 declines against 1728 advances.

Indian stock indices in red as globas cues engulf Dalal street
(posted under SENSEX closing, BSE rates) - Major Indian stock indices including BSE's SENSEX and NSE's NIFTY closed in deep red as global uncertainity in all asian indices continued and Indian markets followed all the peers in closing down.
Bombay Stock Exchange’s Sensex closed at 17748.60 down 127.95 points. The index touched a low of 17725.63 and high of 17868.12 during trading sessions today. Nifty closed at 5316.55, down 36.75 points. The 50 share index hit a low of 5311.05 and high of 5354.35.
BSE Midcap Index was down 0.02 per cent and BSE Smallcap Index moved 0.05 per cent higher. BSE FMCG Index was up 0.72 per cent and BSE Oil&gas Index advanced 0.04 per cent. BSE Metal Index slipped 1.90 per cent and BSE IT Index declined 1.29 per cent.
Market breadth was negative on the BSE with 1318 gainers against 1533 losers.

BSE SENSEX closes in green - 4/6/2010
BSE's 30 share benchmark index SENSEX closed up by 95 points as positive cues from global markets and investors poured in off late. Market breadth was negative on the BSE with 627 gainers against 664 declines.
Sensex closed at 17117.69, up 95.36 points or 0.56 per cent. The 30-share index hit a low of 16963.92 and high of 17150.42.
BSE Midcap Index was up 0.21 per cent and BSE Smallcap Index moved 0.15 per cent higher.
Amongst the sectoral indices, BSE FMCG Index gained 1.69 per cent and BSE IT Index advanced 0.93 per cent. BSE Metal Index slipped 0.24 per cent and BSE Power Index declined 0.19 per cent.

Sensex Smiles at closing - 10 may 2010
CHEERS ! as finally bulls have arrived at BSE's courtyard as Indian Stock markets closed up by more then 500 points or 3.75 percent. The 30-share benchmark index hit a high of 17356.54 and low of 16799.49. NSE's NIFTY also closed up by 175 points or 3.64 percent The 50 stock index touched a high of 5201.85 and low of 5026.60 in today’s trade.
All the sectoral indices also traded in green through out the day today, The rise in stock markets is because of positive impact of bailout of Greece.

Weak Global cues drag BSE | NSE down at closing
Major Indian stock indices including BSE's SENSEX and NSE's NIFTY closed in red as weak global cues affected the investors outlook and greece worries also engulfed the environment. However according to me the markets would soon rebound as the news of greece's bailout becomes more clearer and substantial.

SENSEX | NIFTY closes in red as global cues weakens
(BSE closing rates 3/5/2010) - Market breadth was negative on the BSE with 875 declines against 424 advances.
Bombay Stock Exchange’s Sensex closed at 17386.08, down 172.63 points or 0.98 per cent. The index touched intra-day low of 17345.92 and high of 17536.86.
National Stock Exchange’s Nifty ended at 5222.75, down 55.25 points or 1.05 per cent. The index touched a low of 5210.05 and high of 5278.70 in today’s trade.
“Indices are likely to face resistance at the 17650-17800-18000/5310-5350-5400 levels (on Sensex and Nifty respectively). Any surge in the indices may see profit taking around the indicated resistances. Downside supports are placed at the 17350-17200-17050/5250-5220-5200 levels.
Depending on the global cues we expect to see an upward movement from the mentioned supports and trade could be influenced by strong moves sectorally. Any move until the said resistances shall be utilised to exit from long positions and look out for a sustainable move,” said Kalyan Reddy, technical analyst, Karvy Stock Broking.
BSE Midcap Index was down 0.40 per cent and BSE Smallcap Index slipped 0.33 per cent.
Amongst the sectoral indices, BSE Metal Index was down 1.74 per cent, BSE IT Index slipped 1.28 per cent and BSE Capital Goods Index declined 1.06 per cent.
