Benchmark Indian Stock markets including Bombay Stock Exchange's SENSEX and National Stock Exchange's NIFTY closed lower today as investors booked profits and ended a choppy trading session today.

The Sensex closed at 15727.85, down 146.10 points. The 30-share index touched daytrade low of 15666.46 today.

The National Stock Exchange's Nifty ended at 4705.80, down 44.70 points. The broader index touched a high of 4756.20 during daytrade today.

SENSEX | NIFTY closes in green up 1.5 percent

SENSEX | Indian Stock markets close in green | NIFTY above 4700

Major Indian stock indices like Bombay Stock Exchange's 30 component most watched SENSEX and National Stock Exchange's NIFTY closed in green today as investors showed some purchasing activity. The most watched SENSEX closed over 16000 mark today.

However Market breadth was negative on the BSE with 1105 gainers against 1620 losers. If we see sectorwise performance for today then BSE Metal Index was up 2 percent, BSE Oil&gas Index moved 1.19 percent higher, BSE Auto Index gained 1.04 percent and BSE Power Index moved 0.92 percent higher. BSE Capital Goods Index declined 0.77 percent.

Slower economic growth pulls SENSEX | NIFTY down today

Indian stock markets saw heavy selling today as heavy fall in industrial output data and slowing indian economy brought bears at dalal street. Both BSE's SENSEX and NSE's NIFTY index closed down by nearly two percent today. Following are closing index prices for today:

30-share BSE index closed 343.11 points down at 15,870.35 today. It can be recalled that India sharply cut its economic growth forecast for the current fiscal year ending in March to between 7.25 percent and 7.75 percent from its original estimate of 9 percent.

Benchmark Indian stock indices including Bombay Stock Exchange's SENSEX and National Stock Exchange's NIFTY closed up today as investors cheered on Euro zone optimism.

The BSE's most watched Sensex ended at 16483.45, up 359.99 points. The 30-share index touched intraday low of 16430.61.

National Stock Exchange's Nifty closed at 4936.85, up 104.80 points or 2.17 per cent. The broader index touched a high of 5011.90 in daytrade today.

BSE Midcap Index closed up by 0.97 percent and BSE Smallcap Index also gained 0.43 percent.

 Global peers also remained in green today as world's major central banks decided to provide cheap US dollar loans to European banks in order to end Euro zone crises.
