Don't be an investment fool - Avoid these mistakes

www.stockivestingtips.in Investing in the stock market is no easy game. Many enter with high hopes, only to find themselves crushed and broke after a few months of trading. That is the harsh reality for would-be investors who do not exercise caution, and who do not strive to find knowledge and understanding before they pump their money into the first "hot" share. There is money to be made in the stock market, but competition is strong and fierce, and experienced traders have been learning the tricks of the trade for a long time. First-time stock market investors often enter this strange world of numbers with false expectations and ideals that ultimately lead them towards common mistakes. Those who are new to the world of the stock market would do well to learn from these errors before they find themselves astray. Benchmark Indian Stock indices ends in weekly gain after a month

Share |

Greetings from StockInvestingTips. Benchmark Indian stock indices including Bombay Stock Exchange's SENSEX and National Stock Exchange's NIFTY50 gained for 6th consecutive day as hopes for good monsoon brightens. Meanwhile Mumbai is witnessing heavy monsoon rains which would continue to bring local life to halt even for tomorrow.

Broader index NSE's NIFTY closed up by over 50 pts today at 8224.95. Thus closing well above the psychological mark of 8200 today. INR also gained 18 paise per USD. Blue-chip index SENSEX gained 200.34 points to end days proceedings at 27316.17 points. A good monsoon would help in providing a boost to indian markets as Meteorological departments prediction of a weak monsoon seems less likely to happen as always. Buying momentum would be seen in coming weeks too if rain gods remain helpful in coming months.

BSE 100 index companies list

Share |

(25/2/2015 BSE 100 Index companies list) : S&P BSE 100 stock index contains 100 biggest Indian companies in market capitalization. These companies are blue chips of their particular sector. Tracking these 100 components show a clear picture of economy of India. This broad BSE index was launched in January 3, 1989 and takes 1983-84 as it's base year, since 1983-84 was too old time for the index, hence it got rebased in june 2012.

Following are details about BSE 100 index which every investor should know. This would help in understanding the basics of the BSE 100 index:

Eligible Universe. All common equities listed at BSE Ltd., (excluding companies classified in Z group, suspended companies, stocks objected to by the Surveillance Department of BSE Ltd. and those that are traded under a permitted category and on the SME platform) are considered eligible. Listing History. Stocks must have a listing history of at least three months at BSE, with the following exceptions: · An exception may be granted if the average float market capitalization of a newly listed company ranks in the top 10 of all companies listed at BSE. In such cases, the minimum listing history required is at least one month.
· In the event that a company is listed due to a merger/demerger/amalgamation, a minimum listing history is not required. Trading Days. The stock must have traded for at least 95% of the trading days at BSE during the three month reference period. Exceptions may be made for extreme reasons such as stock suspension.
Index Construction. All companies meeting the eligibility factors above are ranked based on their average three month float market capitalization, average three month value traded, and average three month impact cost.
The liquidity rank is computed by assigning a 75% weight to the average value traded rank and a 25% weight to the average impact cost rank.
The final rank is determined by assigning a 75% weight to the average float market capitalization rank and a 25% weight to the liquidity rank.
These companies are then sorted based on final rank. Any existing constituent ranking beyond 200 based on final rank is excluded.
Furthermore, an eligible stock not linked to derivatives trading with a float adjusted weight greater than 5% of the index is excluded from the index. The next eligible stock meeting all eligibility criteria is selected for index inclusion based on final rank..

From the pool of eligible stocks, preference is given to those linked to the derivatives market. Eligible stocks linked to the derivatives market are targeted to have an aggregated weight of at least 90% of the index by float adjusted market capitalization.
Constituent Weightings. Every stock is weighted in the index based on its float adjusted market capitalization.
