SENSEX | NIFTY closes down as L&T, Seimens drag

(posted under BSE live, NSE Live)-Bombay Stock Exchange’s Sensex closed at 17050.67, down 423.82 points or 2.43 per cent. The 30-share index hit a low of 17025.26 and high of 17474.49.

BSE Midcap Index was down 2.34 per cent and BSE Smallcap Index slipped 2.47 per cent.

All the sectoral indices were in the red. BSE Capital Goods Index was down 5.17 per cent, BSE Power Index declined 3.52 per cent and BSE Realty Index slipped 2.88 per cent.

National Stock Exchange’s Nifty ended at 5093.60, down 128.10 points or 2.45 per cent. The broader index touched a low of 5085.45 and high of 5220.35.

SENSEX | NIFTY closes in green as fin. stocks climb

(posted under BSE live, NSE live) - It was a good day for indian stock indices as major indices ended in green today as shares of technology companies and financial institutions boosted the markets.

Bombay Stock Exchange’s Sensex was at 17,628.71, higher by 74.41 points or 0.42 per cent. The index touched a high of 17,712.60 and low of 17,505.50 in trade so far.

BSE Midcap Index was up 0.57 per cent and BSE Smallcap Index climbed 0.63 per cent.

National Stock Exchange’s Nifty closed at 5275.35, thus moving up by 23.15 points.

SECTORAL INDICES -

BSE Bankex was up by 2.51 percent, BSE PSU Index up 1.85 percent and BSE Auto Index up 1.69 percent. However BSE Metal Index and BSE Oil & Gas Index lost 0.38 per cent each.

RIL drags BSE SENSEX | NIFTY closes in red

Bombay Stock Exchange's Sensex closed at 17406.71, down 120 points or 0.68 per cent. The index touched a high of 17612 and low of 17392.55.

National Stock Exchange's Nifty ended at 5205.35, down 44.05 points or 0.84 per cent. The 50-share index hit a high of 5300.50 and low of 5200.95.

BSE Midcap Index closed 1.19 per cent lower and BSE Smallcap Index slipped 1.11 per cent.

Amongst the sectoral indices, BSE Realty Index was down 3.05 per cent, BSE Metal Index slipped 2.29 per cent and BSE Bankex slipped 1.97 per cent. BSE IT Index was up 3.70 per cent.

Shares of IT sector were buzzing on the back of encouraging results from Infosys Technologies. The company reported 2.29 per cent rise in net profit to Rs 1471 crore for the quarter ended Dec 31, 2009 as against Rs 1438 crore in the sequential period, way ahead of analyst expectations. Net sales were reported at Rs 5335 crore for the Dec quarter compared with Rs. 5201 crore in the previous quarter.

SENSEX | NIFTY closes flat - 6/1/2010

(posted under - BSE rates, sensex rates) - Bombay Stock Exchange’s Sensex was flat at 17,701.13, up 14.89 points. The 30-share index hit a high of 17790.33 and low of 17636.71.

Nifty ended at 5281.50, up 3.9 points. The index touched crossed psychological resistance level to touch 52-week high of 5310.85 and low of 5260.05.

BSE Midcap Index was up 0.68 per cent and BSE Small cap Index moved 0.44 per cent higher.

Market breadth remained positive on the BSE with 1493 advances and 1402 declines.

SENSEX | NIFTY closes up > touches 52 week high

(posted under - BSE rates, BSE closing, SENSEX rates) - Bombay Stock Exchange’s Sensex closed at 17,686.24, up 127.51 points or 0.73 per cent. The index touched an 52-week high of 17729.78 and low of 17555.77.

BSE Midcap Index was up 1.2 per cent and BSE Smallcap Index gained 0.85 per cent. Amongst the sectoral indices, BSE Metal Index moved higher by 3.82 per cent, BSE Realty Index advanced 1.14 per cent and BSE FMCG Index moved up 0.87 per cent. BSE Auto Index was down 0.25 per cent.

Market breadth was positive on the BSE with 1768 advances and 1119 declines.

National Stock Exchange’s Nifty ended at 5277.90, up 45.7 points or 0.87 per cent. The broader index hit a 52-week high of 5288.35 and low of 5242.40.
